Cascade Shimpaku Juniper

Cascade Shimpaku Juniper

We are in full Kokufu-ten preparation mode at Kouka-en in these last two weeks leading up to the event.  As happens every year, it’s a mad dash to the finish line, making sure that everything is in order.  This not only goes for the trees to be shown in the exhibition, but also for the bonsai that will be sold on the Kouka-en sales table at the Ueno Green Club.

The Itoigawa Shimpaku Juniper featured in this post is the latest tree I just finished wiring and styling for the sales table.  It is a unique, full-cascade bonsai planted in a Nakawatari E-shide container (c. 1800-1911CE).

What an amazing bonsai. Well done Bjorn. Wish I was in the league to be able to buy such a tree.

That container is beautiful but why such the spread of the date of 1800-1911.
